La Plagnes ski statistics are simply incredible. 128 ski lifts, 250km of pistes, 460km when counted in with the huge Paradiski area (including Les Arcs, La Plagne, Peisey-Vallandry). With huge altitude on offer from 3250m down to near 1000m this should qualify La Plagne as one of the worlds finest ski areas.
Opinions vary on this point as the resort is spread out over 4 valleys and 11 separate villages. Architectural harmony and themes vary and this is perhaps why it doesn’t live up to the sum of its potential parts.
However, there’s no denying the quality of the on and off piste available here. Expositions are mainly NE facing so it guards the snow till early May.
For off piste powder hounds head across using the biggest ski lift in the world, the Vanoise Express linking it with adjoining Les Arcs.
Predominantly family friendly most of the slopes are ideal for lower intermediate. Restaurants cater mainly for middle of the road but there are a few exceptions.
Summer offers VTT, MTB and golf but our view is that its better served as a winter resort with more attractive summer options available locally.
